What is Conical Twin Screw Extruder

Conical twin screw extruder is divided into: conical co-rotating twin screw extruder and conical counter-rotating twin screw extrusion machine.

The two screws of the conical co-rotating twin screw extruder rotate in the same direction when working.

The difference between the conical co-rotating twin screw extrusion machine and the conical counter-rotating twin-screw extruder is that an intermediate gear is added to the distribution box to achieve the effect of the two screws rotating in the same direction. The conical co-rotating twin screw extruder can meet the requirements of material processing to a large extent.

The main parameters of the twin screw extruder

1. Screw nominal diameter. The screw nominal diameter refers to the outer diameter of the screw, in mm. For variable diameter (or conical) screws, the screw diameter is a variable value, generally expressed by small diameter and large diameter, such as: 65/130. The larger the diameter of the twin screw, the greater the processing capacity of the machine.

2. Screw aspect ratio. The screw aspect ratio refers to the ratio of the effective length of the screw to the outer diameter. Generally, the aspect ratio of an integral twin-screw extruder is between 7 and 18. For a combined twin-screw extruder, the aspect ratio is variable. From the perspective of development, the aspect ratio has a tendency to gradually increase.

3. Screw steering. The screw steering can be divided into co-directional and counter-directional. Generally, co-rotating twin screw extruder is mostly used for mixing, and counter-rotating extruders are mostly used for extruding products.

4. Screw speed range. The screw speed range refers to the range between the low speed and the high speed (allowable value) of the screw. Co-rotating twin-screw extruders can rotate at high speed, and counter-rotating extruders generally have a speed of only 0-40r/min.

5. Drive power. Drive power refers to the power of the motor driving the screw, in kw.

6. Output. Output refers to the amount of material extruded per hour, in kg/h.
